Euro-Asian Accrediting Association

The Euro-Asian Accrediting Association is a member of the family of evangelical regional accrediting agencies. Together this fellowship of regional bodies comprises ICETE—International Council for Evangelical Theological Education.

2005

ICETE was founded as an answer to the urgent need for evangelical theological institutions around the world to find a way to jointly serve Christian churches at the end of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s. It was exactly at this time that regional accrediting agencies were formed on various continents.
ICETE was founded in March 1980 at a meeting of representatives of these accrediting associations in the town of Hoddleston (England) and under the direction of the Theological Commission of the World Evangelical Fellowship. It's original name was—ICAA.
By the end of the 1990s there were seven member regional accrediting agencies, including:
  1. Accrediting Council for Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA)
    Box 49, Machakos, Kenya

  2. American Association of Bible Colleges [North America] (AABC)
Box 780339, Orlando FL 32878-0339, USA

  3. Theological Association (ATA)

  4. Caribbean Evangelical Theological Association (CETA)
Box 121, Constant Spring, Kingston 8, Jamaica
  5. European Evangelical Accrediting Association (EEAA)
    Bettingerstrasse 112, Wyhlen 1, D-7889 Groenzach, Germany http://www.eeaa.org
  6. Pacific Association of Bible Colleges (SPABC)

  7. Association for Evangelical Theological Education in Latin America (AETAL)
Vergueiro 3051, 04101-300, Sao Paulo SP, Brazil

In 1999 ICETE accepted a new, participating member—EAAA.
  1. Euro-Asian Accrediting Association of evangelical schools (EAAA)
    Odessa-91, P.O.Box 51, Ukraine, 65091

Thus, the “chain” of accrediting agencies has been linked together with the addition of the EAAA, whose membership stretches across over one-sixth of the world's landmass. The countries of the post-communist world have joined the accreditation system for evaluating theological education.
ICETE also has associate members. There are about ten such organizations, missions and committees, such as the Association of Christian Librarians (ACL), and others.
ICETE leadership now:
Chair: Dr. Ken Newton, Brisbane, Australia
Director: Dr. Dieumeme Nöelliste (CETA), Kingston, Jamaica
Administrator: Dr Paul Bowers (ACTEA), Cape Town, South Africa
    International Office:
Prinsesselaan 28, 3905 GL Veenendaal, The Netherlands

International e-mail contact address: icete@knoware.nl
In-house e-mail contact address: icete@att.net
The organizational structure, standards, procedures and basic requirements of the EAAA are analogous and congruous with the requirements of the other ICETE accrediting agencies.
